Postpartum Healing
Treatment and Support Using the Wisdom from Ancient Healing Techniques
In Western culture, much of the focus and resources go toward pregnancy and birth, while the postpartum period—one of the most delicate and vulnerable times for both mother and baby—is too often overlooked.
Drawing on her experience as a mother of three, postpartum doula, practitioner of Maya Abdominal Therapy and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dr. Monica understands the unique needs of mothers and infants during this vulnerable time. Her goal is to support families throughout the “fourth trimester” to promote recovery, restore balance, and help prevent future health concerns.
Every postpartum healing session is completely tailored to your postpartum journey and overarching postpartum goals. Some commonly treated ailments in the postpartum period are:
Lactation support
Clogged ducts, engorged breasts, mastitis, low milk supply, etc.
General healing support
Bleeding, cramping, pain, tears, stitches, c-section incisions, tingling/other sensations due to epidural
Musculoskeletal support
Pelvic floor weakness, prolapse, urinary and/or bowel incontinence
Abdominal muscle weakness, diastasis recti
Mental and emotional support
Anxiety, baby blues, depression, D-MER (dysphoric milk ejection reflex)
The birth of a baby. The birth of a mother.
There are many issues which can arise in the postpartum period, most all of which can be treated — however, even for normal and relatively healthy births —Qi and Blood are lost and need to be replenished to maintain health. Preventative medicine is the best kind of medicine.

In the weeks following birth, acupuncture offers a gentle yet powerful way to restore balance and vitality. Each treatment supports the body’s natural healing process—replenishing Qi and Blood, calming the spirit, and easing common postpartum discomforts such as fatigue, pain, night sweats, or mood changes. Acupuncture helps the body remember its innate rhythm, guiding energy back to the core so that both mother and baby can thrive. It is a quiet invitation for the body to heal deeply and for the heart to settle into this new chapter with ease and grace.

TEAM holds deep wisdom for the postpartum time, recognizing it as a sacred window for rest, nourishment, and rejuvenation. Customized herbal formulas work to rebuild strength, enrich Blood, regulate hormones, and support healthy lactation, while moxibustion (the warming of specific points with gentle heat) encourages circulation, warms the womb, and helps the uterus return to balance. Together, these therapies replenish what was lost in birth and protect against depletion, guiding the mother toward sustained energy, emotional steadiness, and long-term wellness.

Maya Abdominal Therapy honors the physical and energetic realignment that follows birth. With gentle, intentional touch, this therapy supports the uterus and abdominal organs in returning to their natural positions, encourages healthy blood and lymph flow, and eases tension held in the pelvic and abdominal regions. Beyond the physical, it invites a profound reconnection to one’s center—helping the new mother feel grounded, whole, and embodied once again. This nurturing work helps weave the threads of healing, gently reuniting body, mind, and spirit after the transformative journey of birth.
